Overview

The Broadsider is an antique naval cannon modified for personal use, firing solid iron cannonballs. It is the flagship weapon of the USS Constitution's robot crew.

History & Development

The Broadsider was salvaged from the USS Constitution, the pre-war museum ship that still floats over the Commonwealth. Captain Ironsides, the ship's robot commander, presents it to those who help defend his vessel. Its design dates to the age of sail, modified with modern firing mechanisms.

Technical Specifications

The cannon fires heavy iron cannonballs with massive ballistic damage and a slow, laborious reload. It is inaccurate at range but devastating up close, and its ammunition is scavenged from the Constitution's stores. The weapon is a collector's piece as much as a practical arm.

Wasteland Usage & Variants

The Broadsider is a prized trophy of the Constitution questline, and cannonballs can be purchased or recovered from the ship. Its unique firing sound and smoke make it a favorite of showboat wastelanders. It is the only cannon-class shoulder weapon in the Commonwealth.

Notable Appearances

The Broadsider appears in Fallout 4, awarded during the Last Voyage of the U.S.S. Constitution quest.
