Eyebot
Technology & Robotics · Source: Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas (Lonesome Road), Fallout 76
Overview
The Eyebot is a small, spherical hovering robot equipped with a video screen, radio gear, and rudimentary intelligence. It is one of the few robot designs small and cheap enough to be fielded in large numbers by factions across the wastes.
History & Development
Eyebots were originally developed as pre-war survey and communications drones, with ties to RobCo and the military. The Enclave famously repurposed them to broadcast propaganda and hunt for intruders across the Capital Wasteland. The Courier's companion ED-E later proved the platform's durability and adaptability.
Technical Specifications
A single hover unit keeps the Eyebot aloft, while its screen can display messages, maps, or recorded footage. Onboard radio transceivers allow long-range broadcasts, and some models carry light armaments. Their thin armor leaves them fragile in combat.
Wasteland Usage & Variants
The Enclave used Eyebots for surveillance and psychological warfare, while Appalachian communities encountered them roaming pre-war routes. ED-E, a custom duraframe prototype, became a beloved companion capable of combat support and item crafting. Modified Eyebots appear as mobile radio relays in several settlements.
Notable Appearances
Eyebots are central to Fallout 3's Enclave encounters, star as ED-E in Fallout: New Vegas's Lonesome Road, and roam Appalachia in Fallout 76.
