Overview

Vault 112 is the site of the Tranquility Lane virtual reality experiment, featured in Fallout 3. Its residents have been trapped in a simulated 1950s neighborhood for over 200 years.

History & Background

The vault was overseen by Dr. Stanislaus Braun, Vault-Tec's original experiment designer, who used the simulation as his personal playground. He trapped the vault's dwellers in the VR world, controlling everything and everyone in it, including the player, who enters via a simulation pod. The player must navigate Braun's twisted games to learn the location of Project Purity's GECK.

Geography & Layout

The vault's physical interior is sparse — row upon row of VR pods holding the comatose residents — while the real action takes place inside the idyllic, sunny simulation of Tranquility Lane.

Wasteland Significance

Vault 112 is one of Fallout 3's most creative and disturbing quests, blending suburbia satire with psychological horror, and introduces the sadistic Braun as a memorable villain.
