Overview

The Forged are a raider gang that seized Saugus Ironworks in the Commonwealth, turning the old steel mill into a forge for their weapons and armor — and a furnace for their enemies.

History & Background

When raiders took the ironworks, they found more than shelter: they found a working industrial facility. Under the warlord Slag, the Forged rebuilt the mill's machinery and began producing armor and weapons, trading their forged goods for influence and territory across the Commonwealth's northern wastes.

Details & Timeline

2287: the Forged control Saugus Ironworks and its surrounding ruins, guarding the mill with flamers, forged armor, and the fires of the blast furnace itself. The Sole Survivor can fight through the mill to destroy the gang, rescue its prisoners, and claim the facility's treasures — ending the Forged's arms production and their reign over the region.

Wasteland Significance

As one of the Commonwealth's few domestic arms producers, the Forged armed raider bands across the region; their fall crippled the northern raider economy. Their story is also a lesson in how industry — even in ruins — remains the wasteland's most valuable resource.
