Centaur Assembly Process
Mutations & FEV · Source: Fallout and Fallout 3 in-game lore, Mariposa and Vault 87 records
Overview
Centaurs are horrific FEV chimeras created by the Master, assembled from multiple creatures into writhing, many-headed monstrosities. Their existence demonstrates the Master's mastery of biological manipulation. They are among the most disturbing creatures in the wasteland.
Origin & Mechanism
Centaurs were created in the Master's vats using FEV to fuse human and animal DNA into new life forms. The process combined multiple donor organisms, typically animals like dogs, into a single tortured body. The resulting creature was designed as a frontline soldier of the Master's army.
Effects & Symptoms
Centaurs have multiple heads, writhing appendages, and exposed organs, moving with unnatural agility. They attack with bites and claws, and their appearance is deeply unsettling to wastelanders. Their bodies continue to grow and mutate, sometimes sprouting new features.
Wasteland Significance
Centaurs served in the Master's legions, terrorizing the West Coast until the Master's fall. East Coast centaurs, created from a different FEV strain in Vault 87's experiments, appeared in the Capital Wasteland. They remain evidence of FEV's capacity for grotesque creation.
Notable Appearances
Centaurs appear in Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout 3. The creatures are often found near super mutant camps and FEV facilities.
