Overview
Vault 108 is famous for its cloning experiment, featured in Fallout 3: every inhabitant of the vault is named Gary. The experiment — designed to test cloning technology — produced an army of identical, increasingly unstable clones.
History & Background
The vault's cloning vats churned out successive generations of Gary, all bearing the same name, while the original staff was eliminated by their creations. By 2277 the vault is filled with feral, aggressive Gary clones who attack anything that moves, chanting their own name. The player can explore the vault, uncover the cloning equipment, and even take a Gary with them.
Geography & Layout
The vault's interior is a maze of cloning labs, dormitories, and maintenance corridors littered with the remains of its staff; the cloning vats are its centerpiece.
Wasteland Significance
Vault 108 is one of the most iconic and meme-worthy locations in the series, its absurd premise and dark humor making it unforgettable.
