Talon Company
Factions & Armies · Source: Fallout 3 (2008) and Broken Steel DLC (2009)
Overview
Talon Company is the Capital Wasteland's most feared mercenary army — a well-armed, disciplined private military force for hire to anyone with the caps to pay, and the sworn enemy of anyone who crosses its clients.
History & Background
Talon Company traces its origins to a pre-war private military corporation, and its post-war incarnation retained the old structure: uniforms, ranks, and contracts. Operating from Fort Bannister, the company fields patrols across the wastes, guarding caravans, slaughtering rivals, and taking contracts from the region's powers — including, in the end, the Enclave's remnants.
Details & Timeline
2277: Talon Company patrols the Capital Wasteland as the region's dominant mercenary force, and its leaders place bounties on the Lone Wanderer for interfering with their operations. In 2278, during Broken Steel, the Enclave hires the company to strike at the Brotherhood of Steel, turning Talon Company into the last mercenary army to fight for the pre-war government's cause. Their defeat at the Brotherhood's hands breaks their hold on the region.
Wasteland Significance
Talon Company embodies the wasteland's mercenary economy, where loyalty is measured in caps and the highest bidder owns the guns. Their presence made travel in the Capital Wasteland deadly, and their defeat removed the region's largest hired threat — a turning point in the Brotherhood's consolidation of power.
