Sheepsquatch

Creatures & Mutants · Source: Fallout 76

The Sheepsquatch is a bizarre and terrifying cryptid of the Appalachian wasteland — a creature that appears to be a grotesque fusion of ovine and hominid anatomy, standing approximately seven to eight feet tall on powerful hind legs. The name derives from both its vaguely sheep-like facial structure (complete with curling horns) and the 'Squatch' suffix reflecting its bipedal, ape-like body structure, drawing from the Sasquatch/Bigfoot cryptid tradition.

The creature's body is covered in matted, wool-like fur over dense muscle, with disproportionately long arms ending in three-fingered claws that can disembowel a human with a single swipe. Its face is a disturbing hybrid: sheep-like features (horizontal pupils, muzzle-like mouth structure) grafted onto a primate-like cranial structure. The Sheepsquatch emits a distinctive bleating cry that some survivors describe as 'a sheep being processed through a machine press' — a sound that carries for miles through Appalachian valleys.

The origin of the Sheepsquatch is a subject of intense debate among Appalachian researchers. Some evidence suggests the creature is the product of pre-war genetic experimentation, possibly agricultural research gone wrong or deliberate bio-weapons development. Others argue it represents a natural (if extreme) mutation of local fauna. The creature's apparent sterility — no juvenile Sheepsquatch specimens have been documented — suggests an engineered rather than evolved origin. A 'legendary' variant known as the Imposter Sheepsquatch has been documented, though this appears to be a robotic decoy rather than a biological specimen, adding further mystery to the creature's origins.
